Nurses and Midwives in Australia warned about OnlyFans content
Warning from Nursing and Midwifery Council of NSW: Posting explicit content on OnlyFans could harm professional reputation
The Nursing and Midwifery Council of New South Wales (NSW) has warned nurses and midwives in Australia against posting explicit content on OnlyFans. The Sydney Morning Herald reported that even if the medical professionals created such content on their own time and in a way that did not identify them as professionals, they could still risk distracting patients.
In an email titled ‘OnlyFans – Are you breaching the professional standards by subscribing to online content services?’, the Nursing and Midwifery Council warned that if a practitioner created content on OnlyFans and was recognised or published photographs in uniform, they could be reported for their conduct. Such conduct could be deemed unprofessional or as a distraction for patients. The email also listed examples of OnlyFans scenarios for discussion.

It is understandable that medical professionals have personal lives and can pursue other interests outside of their work. However, they must also consider how their actions could impact their professional reputation and that of the medical profession. The Nursing and Midwifery Council’s warning emphasizes this point and encourages medical professionals to avoid any actions that could lead to complaints from patients or other parties.
Moreover, as healthcare professionals, nurses and midwives must maintain high standards of professionalism and adhere to ethical guidelines. Their actions should not undermine the trust and confidence that patients place in them. Any behaviour that could call into question the professionalism of medical practitioners is not acceptable.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council is an independent oversight body responsible for regulating and monitoring the conduct of nurses and midwives in NSW. Its guidelines on OnlyFans are a matter of professional standards and should be taken seriously by all medical professionals. NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard has stated that he will not seek to influence the Nursing and Midwifery Council's guidelines, as it is an independent body.
In recent years, OnlyFans has become a popular platform for content creators, including healthcare professionals. The platform allows users to create and publish explicit content and monetize it. However, medical professionals must understand that their actions on the platform could have implications for their professional life. They should be aware of the potential consequences of their actions and act in a way that upholds the highest standards of professionalism.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council’s warning to nurses and midwives in Australia against posting explicit content on OnlyFans is a reminder of the importance of maintaining high standards of professionalism. Healthcare professionals must understand that their actions outside of work could have implications for their professional reputation and the trust and confidence that patients place in them. It is essential that medical professionals act in a way that upholds the highest standards of professionalism and adhere to ethical guidelines. By doing so, they can maintain the trust of their patients and the wider community.
