SDG 5 - Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

Larissa.Health contributes to SDG 5 by centering respectful, consent-based midwifery care – improving agency, safety, and participation for women and girls. We help make information understandable, choices visible, and referrals safer, while supporting midwives as local female health leaders. Our work complements national frameworks and safeguarding pathways.

Gender equality in maternity care means informed choice, protection from violence, and real participation in decisions. Barriers often arise from silence, stigma, and fragmented services. Larissa.Health reduces these frictions with clear information, consent flows, private access to services where available, and easy-to-use tools that strengthen the voice and role of midwives. We align with public policies and community partners rather than replacing them.

5.1 End discrimination against women and girls

We promote non-discriminatory access, transparent consent, and respectful communication – supporting equal treatment across age, status, and background.

5.2 End all violence against and exploitation of women and girls

We include discreet signposting to support services and safeguarding pathways, with privacy-preserving options and trauma-sensitive language.

5.3 Eliminate forced marriages and genital mutilation

We provide neutral, rights-based information and referral links to protection and counselling services through licensed partners where available.

5.4 Value unpaid care and promote shared domestic responsibilities

We recognise caregiving realities in scheduling and follow-ups – aiming to reduce time and travel burdens and to support partner engagement where appropriate.

5.5 Ensure full participation in leadership and decision-making

We strengthen midwives as community leaders and support shared decision-making in care – making options, risks, and preferences visible.

5.6 Universal access to reproductive rights and health

We support informed, private access to SRH information and services within midwifery care, aligned with national programmes and laws.

5.a Equal rights to economic resources, property ownership and financial services

Where partners and regulations permit, we signpost to financial and social support that helps women access and sustain needed care.

5.b Promote empowerment of women through technology

We build low-barrier, privacy-preserving tools that put information and choices in women’s hands and make local midwifery more reachable.

5.c Adopt and strengthen policies and enforceable legislation for gender equality

We align content and workflows with applicable policies and safeguarding standards and encourage consistent, auditable practice.

How we translate this into outcomes

More informed choices – safer disclosures and referrals – fewer burdens to attend care – stronger midwife leadership – better client experience.

Measurement notes

We track progress with privacy-preserving analytics and consent. Equity and safety lenses are applied to uptake, completion, and experience data. Alignment reflects contribution and methodology – not endorsement or causal claims beyond supported contexts.
